This ad for the National appeared in the February 18, 1850 issue of the Daily Alta California. Thanks to Art Siegel for locating it via the California Digital Newspaper Collection website. The ad's text:

"NATIONAL THEATRE, On Washington, between Montgomery and Kearny streets. This Theatre being completed, will be opened on TUESDAY EVENING, February 19th, 1850. The proprietor has used his utmost endeavors to render this place of amusement one of the most comfortable and attractive places in the city. Having been at great expense in engaging the most talented ladies and gentlemen that could be procured, he trusts that a discerning and generous public will sustain him in his endeavors to please. 

"Sole proprietor, Mr. Henry Gunter; director of the French department, Monsieur Delamarre; stage manager of French department, Monsieur Charles; leader of orchestra, Monsieur Bona; machinist, (of the St. Charles Theatre, New Orleans,) Mr. Henry; director of the English department, (of Mitchell's Olympic Theatre, N. Y.) Mr. Evrard. The following ladies and gentlemen are already engaged; Messieurs Delamarre, Charles, Nitzell, Prat, Seipald, Morin, Michel, Arroyo, Suarez, Leonzo. Mesdames Estelle, Juliet, Leonzo. Messrs. Cole, Bendix, Harrison, Day, McKeever, Meeker. 

"Will be produced in quick succession, Vaudeville, Comedy, Ballet, Pantomimes, and Farces. PRICES OF ADMISSION. — Boxes, $4; Parquette, $3. Police, under the direction of Messrs. Garvey & Dobson. Doors open at 6 1/2 o'clock. Performances to commence at 7 o'clock."
