Foreign Cinema

2534 Mission St. | map

Opened: 1999. It's a restaurant that shows films on a screen in their open-air courtyard. The building is on the west side of the street between 21st and 22nd. The entrance doors with the portholes are seen above the black vehicle. On the left it's a neighbor to the south, the Alamo Drafthouse New Mission Theatre. Photo: Google Maps - 2022

In the booth:

The equipment includes a Simplex XL, RCA 9030 soundhead, Strong Lume-X xenon lamp, Xetron automation and a Christie Autowind. In the upper right is a bit of their digital projector. Thanks to Glen A. Micheletti for this 2014 photo.

It may be the largest booth in town. It's also used as a private dining room. The c.2020 photo is one appearing on the Foreign Cinema website.
