The Mini-Torium

1588 Market St. | map |

Opened: August 25, 1968 with "Girls - As You Like Em." Jack Tillmany refers to this theatre as a "fondly recalled pioneer with a tastefully understated facade." This photo by Tom Gray is from his collection.

This first location for the Mini-Torium was on the north side of Market just east of the Page/Franklin St. intersection. That's a block west of Van Ness.

Closed: 1970. But not gone forever. It resurfaced with a new Mini-Torium located at 502 Valencia St.

Status: The building once housing the Mini-Torium survives on Market.

That's the building on the right. We're looking west on Market with Franklin taking off to the right. Photo: Google Maps - May 2021

More information: Jack Tillmany's Arcadia Publishing book "Theatres of San Francisco" can be previewed on Google Books. It's available from Amazon or your local bookseller.
