The San Francisco Experience - location #2

333 Jefferson St. | map

Opening: The San Francisco Experience moved to this Fisherman's Wharf location in 1974. It was a 29 projector seven-screen tour of the city. Thanks to Jack Tillmany for sharing this 1974 photo taken by Tom Gray that's in his collection. The building is on the south side of the street between Jones and Leavenworth.

This was the second stop in the show's migration. It began in 1970 about three blocks away atop Ghirardelli Square. There's a bit about it on the page about the Ghirardelli Square Cinema, another venue in that complex.

Closing: Late 1979 at this location. That winter it moved to location #3 - Stage Door Theatre downtown on Mason St. In 1984 it moved to location #4 - Pier 39. Thanks to Jack Tillmany for the research.

Status: The building, called Anchorage Square, survives. It has multiple retail and restaurant tenants on the ground floor and parking above.
